Fossil-free charging stations drive the shift to sustainable electrification
Skellefteå Kraft is investing in a comprehensive programme for public fast charging of passenger cars through the establishment of charging stations on OKQ8 sites in Sweden and Denmark. OKQ8 provides the land and related assessments, while Skellefteå Kraft is responsible for the expansion of the charging infrastructure.


Sala invests in energy-efficient and sustainable school
Sala Municipality has constructed a new school and preschool facility in Möklinta, comprising a primary school (F–6), preschool, sports hall and a new production kitchen. The project is part of the municipality’s long‑term investment in sustainable public buildings and is designed in accordance with the Miljöbyggnad Silver standard.


A robust water plant focused on climate and environment
To ensure a long‑term sustainable drinking water supply in Sandviken Municipality, a new water treatment plant is being constructed, delivering clear environmental and climate benefits while minimising resource use. As the existing groundwater extraction is not sustainable, surface water will be used as the raw water source. The new facility enables a modern treatment process with significantly lower chemical consumption and reduced raw‑water losses; the proportion of water used in internal processes is expected to be halved. Energy‑efficient technology, such as variable‑speed pumps in the highest energy class, further reduces the plant’s life‑cycle climate footprint.


New swim facility in Nacka – an investment in health and climate
Nacka Municipality is investing in a new, modern swimming facility to meet increasing demand for swimming, training and swimming education among schools, clubs and the general public. The previous facility had reached the end of its service life and is now being replaced by a modern building containing three pools: a 25‑metre pool with six lanes, a teaching pool with a movable floor, and a children’s pool. The new facility will form an important part of the municipality’s total swimming capacity.


Property-adjacent collection for increased recycling
In the Municipality of Tranås, a new property‑adjacent collection system for household waste is being introduced. The new system means that all single- and two-family homes will receive two four-compartment containers so that full sorting of packaging can be carried out. The solution replaces today's optical sorting and enables residents to sort food waste, residual waste, paper, plastic and metal packaging, glass and newspapers closer to their homes. The purpose is to reduce the share of recyclable materials that currently end up in residual waste; waste composition analyses show that around 30 per cent consists of recoverable fractions.


Investing in stormwater to promote good water status and supply
As part of Botkyrka municipality’s work to achieve a better ecological status in its lakes, it is currently investing in three lakeside stormwater dams: in Alby Äng, Utterkalven and Bremora. Here, stormwater is to be purified to improve the water quality in nearby lakes, which play a decisive role for both the ecosystems and the drinking water supply.


New school in Lerum, focus on climate biodiversity
The municipality of Lerum began construction of a new school in 2023 and expects completion in 2027. Covering over 12,000 sq.m. and meeting high requirements for energy efficiency and sustainable material selection, the school is expected to have an energy demand of less than half of the national building regulations for a similar building.


Renovation reduces footprint by more than half
In 2021, an extensive renovation of the Äpplet and Päronet neighborhoods in the Öster district of Växjö began, to be completed in 2025. The renovation includes nine buildings and 220 apartments built in the early 1960s, and in total nearly 20,000 sq.m.
